Complex Trauma

First are the questions, followed by screaming and slapping across the face.

Drinking makes him emotionally unavailable. You don’t even think he realizes the damage he is doing because of his drinking.

The kids at school laugh at your children because they are wearing poor kids’ clothes. Homelife doesn’t exist, making it impossible to have relationships with friends and family.

Another weekend goes by without a visit. He chose the booze over you again. This is no way to live!

All he was doing was playing his video game in the living room when the shots rang through the wall, striking your child.

Although you tried to get to him quickly and find help, it was too late. Your family went from being at peace to utter turmoil in a moment.

You’ll never be able to tell him you love him just one last time.

Moving forward after this horrible, traumatic event seems impossible.

He did not seem that kind of guy.

At first, he seemed friendly and considerate. His behavior made you think it would be safe to be alone with him because nothing would happen while being with someone of his character. Wrong!

When alone with him, the fear and helplessness were so intense that you felt paralyzed. Your voice wouldn’t work, and nothing came out when you tried to scream.

What he did to you felt gross. At this point, you didn’t know where to turn to get help. Besides, you thought, “Who would believe me anyway? They might think that I asked for it.”

Complex Trauma Img 4Therapy can help you overcome complex trauma.

The above examples describe traumatic events in one’s life that are hard to process. Overcoming the fear and helplessness associated with such events is not easy, especially when you attempt to do it alone.

This is where therapy can help you begin the healing process. Overcoming trauma takes time, and as your therapist, my role is to listen to your feelings about the trauma you experienced. Our relationship will be built on trust and patience, allowing us to gently discuss the trauma you have experienced and begin to unburden you with the weight that you have been carrying due to those unfortunate experiences.

As you unburden your feelings, we will work to help you process those feelings, allowing you to move forward as you release those feelings of that trauma.

Here is the main point to consider. You are worthwhile, have value, and deserve to live happily. The goal is to help you realize this.

We will work together to begin building hope for a better future. Please get in touch with me today for a free 15-minute consultation.
