FAQ

Where is your office located?
I only provide online therapy.
What are your hours?
My hours are typically regular business hours Monday through Thursday, 8 am – 5 pm CT, and Friday from 8 am – 1 pm CT. Occasionally, I can make exceptions with evening or Saturday appointments as necessary to meet your needs.
How long are the sessions?
Sessions typically last 50 minutes. A long time ago, it was determined that therapists would use the last 10 minutes to document the session.
What is your cancellation policy?

What? Do people cancel appointments? I’m just kidding. I know that life happens quickly and unexpectedly. Sometimes, we need to cancel an appointment. If you give a 24-hour notice, there is no fee. However, within 24 hours, you will be charged half of your session fee.

Unfortunately, sometimes life gives us circumstances that do not allow a 24-hour notice. In those situations, I use compassion and understanding.

Do you take insurance?

I am not in a network with any insurance companies due to insurance companies tending to work against clients and practitioners. They require a diagnosis and limit the frequency and duration of sessions, even if that’s not in line with your treatment plan.

If you’d like, I will provide you with the necessary information to request out-of-network reimbursement from your insurance company. I suggest contacting your insurance company to get details about your out-of-network coverage. You can also check out www.mentaya.com.

What are your fees?
Remember, therapy is an emotional, financial, and time investment in yourself. The initial session is $175, and ongoing individual sessions are $150. Ask about the introductory package.
What methods of payment do you accept?
I accept Visa, Mastercard, and HSA.
Who do you work with?
I work with male and female adults over 18. I do individual and couple sessions.
What do you do in a session?
Great question. Most therapy sessions take a similar form: the beginning is the information-gathering phase. The middle is taking the information gathered and identifying what needs to be focused on so that change can happen. The end is identifying what you will work on outside the therapy session.
Do you give assignments to work on between sessions?
Assignments will be given from time to time. This truly depends on the individuals I’m working with and their desire to do the assignments. However, the effort given to apply the insight and skills discussed in therapy will determine the success of treatment.
What happens in the first session?
During the first session, we discuss your pain and what brought you to therapy. We then start unpacking to develop a healing plan and create a better tomorrow.
Do you ever get tired of listening to people complain?

No. We don’t get through life without pain. I’ve experienced it. You’ve experienced it. Everyone who has lived will experience pain. Pain shared = pain halved. I welcome the opportunity to cut your pain in half by offering an ear and some guidance.
